Kisspeptin 10mg is a research-grade KISS1 receptor agonist studied for GnRH release, pubertal activation and reproductive hormone signalling. This 3 ml vial containing 10 mg presentation is intended for laboratory investigation of hypothalamic control of gonadotropin secretion. Kisspeptin is a hypothalamic neuropeptide that binds KISS1R (GPR54) on GnRH neurons and stimulates GnRH release. GnRH then drives pituitary LH and FSH secretion, which in turn regulates gonadal steroidogenesis and gametogenesis. Kisspeptin neurons integrate metabolic, circadian and steroid feedback signals, making the peptide a central node linking energy status to reproduction.
Seminara and colleagues (New England Journal of Medicine, 2003) identified loss-of-function GPR54 mutations as a cause of idiopathic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, establishing kisspeptin signalling as essential for pubertal development. Subsequent studies showed that kisspeptin administration raises LH in healthy volunteers and in patients with reproductive disorders. Researchers use kisspeptin to model GnRH pulse generation, pubertal onset, LH surge dynamics and the reproductive effects of metabolic stress. It is also studied as a safer alternative to HCG for triggering oocyte maturation.
The 10 mg vial allows multiple time points in infusion or repeated-injection protocols, where LH is usually measured as the primary readout. Because kisspeptin has a short plasma half-life, continuous infusion or frequent sampling is often needed to capture the response. Store at -20C in the dark, and reconstitute only the amount needed for each experiment. Gently swirl rather than shake, keep the solution cold, and discard any aliquot that shows cloudiness or precipitation.
Questions include the role of different kisspeptin isoforms, the mechanism of steroid feedback on KNDy neurons, and whether chronic administration produces desensitisation of the gonadotropic axis. For research use only. This material is not a drug, food or cosmetic and must not be administered to humans or animals outside an approved research protocol.
