Ipamorelin 5mg is a research-grade selective growth-hormone secretagogue studied for GH release, IGF-1 signalling and body-composition change. This 3 ml vial containing 5 mg presentation is intended for laboratory investigation of ghrelin-receptor-mediated somatotroph activation. Ipamorelin is a pentapeptide ghrelin-receptor agonist that stimulates growth-hormone release from pituitary somatotrophs. It was engineered for selectivity: unlike older secretagogues, it produces little increase in ACTH, cortisol or prolactin at GH-releasing concentrations.
Binding activates GHS-R1a and increases intracellular calcium and cAMP, prompting GH vesicle fusion while preserving the pulsatile architecture of secretion. Raun and colleagues (European Journal of Endocrinology, 1998) described ipamorelin as the first selective GH secretagogue, reporting dose-dependent GH release with minimal cortisol and prolactin effects in animal models. Later work confirmed that it acts synergistically with GHRH at the somatotroph. It is used to study GH pulsatility, somatotroph sensitivity, IGF-1 generation and the metabolic consequences of intermittent GH exposure.
Researchers also use it as a cleaner comparator for less selective ghrelin mimetics. The 5 mg vial supports repeated dosing in rodent protocols and concentration-response work in pituitary cell culture. Because ipamorelin is short-acting, sampling schedules should capture the GH peak within the first hour after administration. Handle the powder at -20C, protected from moisture and light. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water or a suitable buffer, filter if the protocol requires sterility, and store working aliquots at 2-8C for short-term use.
Document the diluent, concentration and preparation date. Open questions concern receptor desensitisation with repeated dosing, the magnitude of GH output in different species, and whether selective GHS-R1a activation produces meaningful IGF-1 changes without altering cortisol. Sold for laboratory research only. Not for human or veterinary use, and not for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
