Semax 10mg is a research-grade ACTH(4-10) analog studied for BDNF expression, neuroprotection, cognition and stress adaptation. This 3 ml vial containing 10 mg presentation is intended for laboratory investigation of neuropeptide modulation of hippocampal plasticity. Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide analog of ACTH(4-10) with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro extension that increases stability and bioavailability. It is studied for its ability to upregulate BDNF and TrkB in the hippocampus, modulate dopaminergic and serotonergic transmission, and protect neurons under oxidative and ischaemic stress.
Unlike full ACTH, it has little effect on adrenal steroidogenesis. Dolotov and colleagues (Brain Research, 2006) showed that semax regulates BDNF and TrkB expression in the rat hippocampus, providing a mechanistic link to its cognitive effects. Other work has reported protection in models of stroke, optic-nerve injury and neuroinflammation. Researchers use semax to model memory consolidation, attention, neuroprotection, stroke recovery and stress-related behaviour. It is also studied alongside selank for combined cognitive and anxiolytic effects.
The 10 mg vial supports repeated intranasal or systemic dosing in rodent models, where BDNF and TrkB are typically measured in the hippocampus and cortex. Because the peptide is rapidly degraded, studies should report the route and timing relative to behavioural testing. Store at -20C in the dark, and reconstitute only the amount needed for each experiment. Gently swirl rather than shake, keep the solution cold, and discard any aliquot that shows cloudiness or precipitation.
Questions include the extent of blood-brain barrier penetration, the relative contribution of BDNF versus dopaminergic effects, and whether chronic administration produces lasting plasticity changes. This product is intended strictly for in-vitro and in-vivo laboratory research by qualified professionals. It is not approved for human consumption, clinical treatment or therapeutic use.
