Nandrolone decanoate - Deca-Durabolin - is a 19-nor steroid, which means it is built on a modified testosterone backbone. That single structural change is responsible for most of what distinguishes it: strong lean mass retention, mild aromatisation compared to testosterone, and a well-earned reputation for suppressing the body's own testosterone production harder than the dose would suggest.

The prolactin problem

Nandrolone is the one steroid that reliably raises prolactin, which is why gynaecomastia shows up on deca far more often than on an equivalent dose of testosterone.
