Description

GHK-Cu (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine copper complex) is a naturally occurring copper-binding tripeptide studied for skin remodelling, collagen synthesis, wound healing and hair-follicle biology. The copper ion is essential to its activity: GHK delivers copper to cells and modulates lysyl oxidase, superoxide dismutase and metalloproteinase activity, which influences collagen cross-linking, elastin production and extracellular-matrix turnover. Pickart (Journal of Biomaterials Science, Polymer Edition, 2008) reviewed GHK-Cu's regenerative and anti-inflammatory effects, including stimulation of collagen and glycosaminoglycan synthesis in fibroblast and skin models.

Researchers use it to model dermal repair, scar formation, skin ageing, hair-follicle stimulation and wound closure, and to compare copper-peptide signalling with growth-factor and angiogenesis pathways. The compound is supplied as 100mg of research-grade material in a 3ml vial. Store lyophilized powder at -20C, protect it from light, and reconstitute with bacteriostatic water according to institutional protocols. Common research questions concern copper-release kinetics, the stability of the copper-peptide complex, and how topical versus injected delivery affects dermal penetration.

This product is intended strictly for laboratory research by qualified professionals. It is not approved for human consumption, clinical treatment or therapeutic use. Copper chemistry is central to handling: the complex should be kept in a slightly acidic, metal-free solution, and chelating agents such as EDTA can strip the copper and abolish activity. Dermal studies measure collagen I and III, elastin, glycosaminoglycans and matrix metalloproteinase activity, while wound models add closure rate and tensile strength. The peptide has also been studied in hair-follicle organ culture, where it increases follicle size and prolongs the anagen phase.
