Retatrutide 20mg is a research-grade GIP/GLP-1/glucagon receptor triagonist studied for appetite regulation, thermogenesis, hepatic steatosis and body-weight reduction. This 3 ml vial containing 20 mg presentation is intended for laboratory investigation of higher-dose metabolic and hepatic endpoints. Retatrutide combines GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon receptor agonism. The glucagon component is of particular interest in metabolic-dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, because glucagon receptors increase hepatic fatty-acid oxidation and reduce lipogenesis.
Incretin activity provides complementary appetite control and improved glucose-dependent insulin secretion. Jastreboff and colleagues (New England Journal of Medicine, 2023) reported that retatrutide reduced body weight substantially at 48 weeks, with the highest dose group showing the greatest effect. Secondary analyses examined liver fat, waist circumference and cardiometabolic markers. The 20 mg presentation is used for studies of liver fat, insulin sensitivity, energy expenditure and cardiovascular risk factors. Researchers also use it to compare triple agonism with bariatric-surgery outcomes and with dual incretin therapy.
Because higher doses amplify both efficacy and gastrointestinal effects, preclinical protocols should use gradual titration and include pair-fed controls so that weight loss can be separated from reduced food intake. Measure liver fat and glucose simultaneously. Store at -20C in the dark, and reconstitute only the amount needed for each experiment. Gently swirl rather than shake, keep the solution cold, and discard any aliquot that shows cloudiness or precipitation.
Key questions concern the durability of weight loss after treatment stops, the effect on lean mass and bone density, and whether glucagon-mediated hepatic benefits are independent of weight loss. For research use only. This material is not a drug, food or cosmetic and must not be administered to humans or animals outside an approved research protocol.
