Orforglipron 6mg is a research-grade oral non-peptide GLP-1 receptor agonist studied for appetite suppression, gastric emptying, weight loss and glycaemic control. This 3 ml vial containing 6 mg presentation is intended for laboratory investigation of small-molecule GLP-1 receptor activation. Orforglipron is a non-peptide, orally available GLP-1 receptor agonist. Unlike peptide agonists, it is not degraded by DPP-4 and does not require an absorption enhancer, which allows tablet dosing. Receptor activation increases cAMP in pancreatic beta cells, stimulates glucose-dependent insulin release, slows gastric emptying and reduces appetite through hypothalamic GLP-1 signalling.
Wharton and colleagues (New England Journal of Medicine, 2023) reported that daily oral orforglipron produced dose-dependent weight loss in adults with obesity over 36 weeks, with gastrointestinal effects consistent with GLP-1 agonism. The phase 3 ATTAIN programme has since extended these findings. Researchers use orforglipron to compare oral small-molecule GLP-1 agonism with injectable peptide agonists, and to study receptor pharmacology, appetite circuitry and glycaemic control. Its non-peptide structure makes it a useful tool for separating GLP-1 receptor effects from peptide-specific pharmacokinetics.
The 6 mg vial is intended for in-vitro receptor assays and preclinical dosing studies rather than tablet formulation work. Because orforglipron is a small molecule, solubility and vehicle selection differ from peptide handling; prepare fresh solutions and protect them from light. Keep the sealed vial at -20C until use, shield it from light, and reconstitute under sterile conditions with bacteriostatic water or the buffer specified in the study protocol. Working solutions should be kept cold, aliquoted, and used within the stability window established for that peptide.
Questions include the molecular basis of its oral bioavailability, the extent of biased signalling at the GLP-1 receptor, and how its weight-loss and gastrointestinal profile compares with semaglutide and tirzepatide. Supplied exclusively for controlled laboratory research. It is not intended for human consumption, clinical use or therapeutic application.
