Cagrilintide is a long-acting amylin receptor agonist studied for appetite control, satiety and weight management. Amylin is co-secreted with insulin by pancreatic beta cells and contributes to post-meal fullness by slowing gastric emptying and signalling through the area postrema; cagrilintide is engineered to bind amylin receptors with a longer duration than native amylin. Enebo and colleagues (Lancet, 2021) reported the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of cagrilintide when administered with semaglutide in a phase 1b trial, and the combination has since been studied as CagriSema.
Researchers use cagrilintide to model amylin-driven satiety, gastric emptying, glucose regulation and body-weight change, and to compare amylin agonism with GLP-1 and dual incretin approaches. The peptide is supplied as 10mg of research-grade material in a 3ml vial. Store lyophilized powder at -20C, protect it from light, and reconstitute with bacteriostatic water according to institutional protocols. Common research questions concern its receptor selectivity, its additive effect with GLP-1 agonists, and how its weight-loss profile compares with semaglutide and tirzepatide in preclinical models.
This product is intended strictly for laboratory research by qualified professionals. It is not approved for human consumption, clinical treatment or therapeutic use. Cagrilintide is often studied alongside semaglutide because amylin and GLP-1 signalling act on complementary satiety circuits. The CagriSema programme combines them in a single titration schedule, and phase 3 trials have reported substantial weight reductions with the combination. Preclinical designs typically measure food intake, gastric emptying, body composition and glucose tolerance, and they should include amylin-receptor blockade or knockout controls to confirm on-target activity.
